Patios can be simple but not boring and patios can be quite complex and even more boring. It takes a keen eye to know what works in any given area. Should the patio be symmetrical or free-form, should it be flagstone, fieldstone or inlaid local stone? Perhaps a patio of pavers (interlocking brick-face) or decorated cement slab of different colors? A patio is much more than simply a place to keep your outdoor furniture.
